Revati Nakshatra: Traits, Padas, Career, Marriage and Remedies

Revati Nakshatra means “wealthy” or “prosperous”. It is the twenty-seventh and final Nakshatra, closing the sign of Pisces and the whole zodiac, and its faint star sits near the point where the Nakshatra cycle begins again with Ashwini. Its deity is Pushan, the Vedic protector of travellers, herds and roads, and its ruling planet is Mercury. In the south it is called Revathi. Revati natives are often gentle, caring and imaginative, with a protective instinct towards people and animals.
This guide covers Pushan’s role, the fish and drum symbols, men and women of the Nakshatra, its four padas, careers, compatibility, the Revati to Ashwini Gandanta, muhurta and remedies. These are tendencies; your full chart decides how they appear.

Pushan: the god of safe passage
Pushan is one of the Adityas and among the most practical of the Vedic gods. He protects travellers on the road, guides herds so that no animal is lost, finds lost property and leads the souls of the dead safely to the next world. His chariot is drawn by goats, and he is described as toothless, eating only soft porridge, a detail that later stories explain with a myth from Daksha’s sacrifice. Hymns to Pushan ask him to keep the path clear of thieves and wolves and to bring the traveller home.
From Pushan, Revati takes its caring, guiding character. Natives often look after others without being asked, care about animals and the vulnerable, and feel responsible for helping people reach where they need to go. As the last Nakshatra, Revati also carries the theme of the final stage of a journey: completion, safe arrival and preparation for a new beginning.
What the fish and the drum mean
A pair of fish, the image Revati shares with Pisces, swims freely through water, moving with the current and never staying still. The symbol suggests imagination, intuition and adaptability, and also the boundary between the material and spiritual worlds. Revati Nakshatra natives often have rich inner lives and strong intuition.
The drum, shared with Dhanishtha, adds rhythm and the marking of time. In Revati it is often read as the drum that announces the end of one cycle and the start of another. Many natives are drawn to music, the arts and devotional practice, where rhythm and feeling meet.
Personality
Strengths
- Compassion. Revati natives care deeply about others, including animals.
- Gentleness. They are usually kind, polite and easy to be around.
- Imagination. Pisces gives creativity and a strong inner world.
- Intelligence. Mercury gives quick thinking, good communication and a talent for learning.
- Protectiveness. Like Pushan, they guide and protect those in their care.
Challenges
- Over-sensitivity. They can be hurt easily and absorb others’ moods.
- Escapism. When life is harsh, they may retreat into imagination.
- Self-doubt. They may underestimate their own abilities.
- Being taken advantage of. Their kindness can attract people who exploit it.
Revati Nakshatra men and women
Revati Nakshatra men are traditionally described as gentle, intelligent and well liked, often generous and attached to family. They may be idealistic and sometimes too trusting, and many are drawn to creative or caring professions.
Revati women are described as graceful, kind and talented, often with artistic gifts and a strong sense of duty to family. They tend to be supportive partners and caring parents. Both men and women of this Nakshatra benefit from learning to set boundaries so their kindness is not exhausted.
Mercury’s role and your first Mahadasha
Revati Nakshatra is ruled by Mercury, so natives begin life in the Mercury Mahadasha, which lasts seventeen years in full. Ketu’s seven years follow, then Venus’s twenty and the Sun’s six. Mercury in childhood is associated with learning and curiosity, and Revati children are often quick learners.
Mercury is debilitated in Pisces, which is often read as intellect working through intuition and feeling rather than strict logic. Revati natives frequently combine sharp intelligence with imagination. See Mercury’s placement and your Dasha balance in our free Kundli.
Revati Nakshatra padas
Pada 1: Pisces 16°40′ to 20°00′ (Sagittarius Navamsa, ruled by Jupiter)
Jupiter brings optimism, faith and a love of learning. These natives are often generous and principled, drawn to teaching, religion and law. Name syllable: De.
Pada 2: Pisces 20°00′ to 23°20′ (Capricorn Navamsa, ruled by Saturn)
Saturn adds practicality and ambition. This pada is more grounded than the others and suits administration, business and structured careers. Name syllable: Do.
Pada 3: Pisces 23°20′ to 26°40′ (Aquarius Navamsa, ruled by Saturn)
The Aquarius Navamsa adds a humanitarian, independent side. Natives may be drawn to social causes, technology and group work. Name syllable: Cha.
Pada 4: Pisces 26°40′ to 30°00′ (Pisces Navamsa, ruled by Jupiter)
A Vargottama pada, with Pisces in both the sign and the Navamsa, making it the most spiritual and imaginative of all. It also lies in the Gandanta zone described below. Name syllable: Chi.

The Revati to Ashwini Gandanta
The end of Revati is one of the three Gandanta points of the zodiac, where a water sign (Pisces) meets a fire sign (Aries) and one Nakshatra cycle ends as the next begins with Ashwini. Traditional texts treat births with the Moon very close to this junction as sensitive and some families perform a shanti puja.
This applies only to a small part of the last pada, and the rest of the chart matters far more. There is no reason for fear; a qualified astrologer can confirm whether a birth actually falls in the sensitive degrees.
Career
- Travel, tourism, transport and logistics, through Pushan
- Veterinary work, animal care and agriculture
- Social work, nursing and caregiving
- Music, film, writing and the arts, through Pisces
- Teaching, counselling and spiritual guidance
- Marine work and water-related industries
Revati natives tend to do best where they can help or guide others and where their imagination has room to work.
Love, marriage and compatibility
In love, Revati Nakshatra natives are romantic, devoted and attentive. They need a partner who is kind and emotionally honest, and they can be hurt by harsh words or indifference. Once they feel safe, they are among the most supportive partners of any Nakshatra.
- Yoni (4 points): the elephant yoni scores highest with Bharani, the male elephant. The lion is the elephant’s traditional enemy, so matches with Dhanishtha and Purva Bhadrapada lose points here.
- Gana (6 points): as a Deva Nakshatra, Revati matches well with Ashwini, Mrigashira, Punarvasu, Pushya, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha and Shravana.
- Nadi (8 points): Revati is Antya Nadi. A partner from another Antya Nadi Nakshatra (Krittika, Rohini, Ashlesha, Magha, Swati, Vishakha, Uttara Ashadha or Shravana) creates Nadi Dosha.
Revati is one of the soft Nakshatras often chosen for weddings. Check a couple’s full score with the Kundli matching tool.
Health and wellbeing
Pisces is traditionally linked with the feet and with sensitivity to the environment. Rest, gentle routines and protecting one’s emotional energy are useful habits for this sensitive Nakshatra. Consult a qualified doctor for any health concern.
Using Revati Nakshatra for muhurta
Revati Nakshatra belongs to the Mridu (soft) group, with Mrigashira, Chitra and Anuradha, and is considered auspicious for many beginnings. It is the last Nakshatra of Panchak, which traditionally restricts only a few activities. Traditional uses include:
- Starting a journey, a long-standing association of Pushan
- Weddings and celebrations, subject to the rest of the Panchang
- Buying new clothes and jewellery
- Starting music, art or learning

Remedies and supportive practices
- Strengthen Mercury. Study, careful speech and charity towards students are traditional Mercury remedies. The beej mantra is Om Braam Breem Braum Sah Budhaya Namah.
- Honour Pushan. Caring for animals, especially cows, and helping travellers connect with the deity. A short form is Om Pushne Namah.
- Vishnu worship. Pisces is linked with Vishnu’s Matsya (fish) avatar, and Vishnu worship is widely recommended for Revati natives.
- Gemstones only after a chart check. Emerald is Mercury’s stone; wear it only on the advice of a qualified astrologer.
When the Moon transits Revati Nakshatra
Revati is a soft Nakshatra and the last day of Panchak each month. It is traditionally liked for starting journeys, buying clothes and jewellery, beginning music or art, and caring for animals. Many families choose Revati days for weddings when the rest of the Panchang supports it.
Wednesdays falling on Revati are traditionally used for Mercury remedies. It is also a natural day to complete unfinished work before a new cycle begins with Ashwini.
For your own birth star, the day the Moon returns to it is your Janma Tara. In Tara Bala, the system that compares the day’s Nakshatra with your birth Nakshatra, the Janma Tara is traditionally avoided for major new beginnings such as signing a large contract, although in South India the same day in your birth month is celebrated as your star birthday. You can check the day’s Nakshatra on our daily Panchang.
